Welcome to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Drivers’ Club

The Grandstand of the Drivers’ Club of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Gérard Larrousse, President of the Pilots’ Club 24 Hours of Le Mans, exceptionally opened the doors to us. This Club has a Hall of Fame-style board of directors with 104 participations, 7 overall victories and 11 class victories. Jürgen Barth and Thierry Perrier serve as Vice-Presidents while Marie-Reine and Vincent Beaumesnil are respectively General Secretariat and Treasury. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is above all a family story, that of blood and that of the heart. Who better than Henri Pescarolo can wear the colors as Honorary President, because this 2023 edition also marks the fiftieth anniversary of his victory in 1973 with Gérard Larrousse. The beautiful circle is closed.

Each year, Club members can take their seats in the Goodyear grandstand (formerly Dunlop), located at the end of the pit straight, a stone's throw from the 24 Hours Museum which honors the memory of their exploits.

Far from being a club frozen in time, under the leadership of Gérard Larrousse it has opened up to younger drivers who find it an opportunity to relive an event that they have marked, whatever their level and their result. . Two young drivers from the 2023 edition are in the spotlight this year in the magnificent magazine published by the Club. The Brazilian pilotAlpine, André Negrāo, and the young nugget Lilou Wadoux who defends the colors of Ferrari.

The review of course covers the 100 years of history of the event and looks back at the incredible epic of Roger Dorchy in 1988, the first driver to pass the 400 km/h mark on the Mulsanne straight at the wheel of the WM P87 designed by Gérard Walter.

To fully understand this Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a little return to the past is not superfluous.
