For the first time since 2002, a Cadillac drove on the circuit of 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last Sunday, during the Test Day, the three V.Series-Rs entered for the Centenary edition discovered the Sarthe track. After 156 laps completed by the American LMDh, powered by a naturally aspirated V8 with a melodious sound, Cadillac was able to get a first glimpse of its potential at Le Mans. If reliability is there, the Caddies seem to be lacking in race pace with only the 8th time.

On the pilot's side, the feeling is divided between the satisfaction of a first day spent without incident, and caution. “Each car was on a different base and trying different things, evaluating the tires,” said Sébastien. Bourdais, driver aboard Cadillac No. 3. I think we still have a good amount of data and benchmarks to get an idea of where we're going with this new Cadillac. »

Cadillac “has homework to do” at Le Mans

According to the Le Mans driver, Cadillac is still in the learning phase, but emphasizes that the potential of the V.Series-R is very present. “We have a lot of data to look at to try to understand what works and what doesn't and how we can improve, recognizes the Frenchman. From here we'll probably focus more on lap times. Honestly, I feel like the balance is good, so it's a good start. »

Sentiment shared by his teammate, Earl Bamber. “We learned a lot about the three cars and within Cadillac Racing. I think we tested very well and now it's a matter of combining all the information we learned from #2, #3 and #311 and seeing what we can bring later in the week. The competition is tight and the competition seems strong. We have homework to do and we hope to be on track. »
