The ACO gives new details concerning the future LM P2

The ACO press conference is the traditional annual meeting to discuss the future of 24 Hours of Le Mans but also ofEndurance. A few months after the confirmation of the introduction of the new generation of LM P2s planned for 2025, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, through its president Pierre Fillon, provided new details concerning the category.

No BoP but AOP for future LM P2s

The approval of the future generation of LM P2s will be valid over a period of 5 years from 2025 to 2030. The goal is “ to reduce costs, both on the car and the operation,” in collaboration with manufacturers such as Dallara, Oreca, Multimatic and Ligier. A system based on the foundations of the future premier category, LMDh.

If the subject of the BoP was raised for the future of the category, it was ultimately towards the AOP that the ACO turned. This performance adjustment will be carried out twice a year to balance the performance of the cars in the field.

As a reminder, the introduction of LM P2 has been set for 2025 « in order to allow sufficient time for a thorough review of the technical conditions, to ensure that cost control targets are achieved and to enable a stable transition from the current generation of LMP2 cars. »
