Surprise this Wednesday, May 31 with a change in the Performance Balance carried out even before the Centenary Test Day of 24 Hours of Le Mans, although this was not to be modified until the race. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and the FIA explained their position in a concise press release this Thursday morning.

« The first races of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship season showed that the differences between the various LMH-specification cars competing in the Hypercar class were greater than initially expected, is it explained.

Taking these factors into account, and following an in-depth analysis of the available data, the Committee WEC has decided that the objective of ensuring a level playing field within the Hypercar class will be best achieved by implementing a correction between the LMH and LMDh platforms, but also within these platforms »

Victorious in the first three races of the season, Toyota is thus penalized with 37 kilos more for the Centenary. On pole at Sebring, Ferrari is added 24 kilos. On the other side of the spectrum, the least efficient manufacturers at the start of the season are Peugeot , Glickenhaus and Vanwall do not undergo any changes.
