The 24 Hours of Le Mans have always promoted technological advances, whether in performance, safety, energy efficiency or emissions reduction. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest, in collaboration with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, has started a reflection on the decarbonization of motor racing which has led to the introduction of diesel, hybrid and now battery-powered racing cars. fuel powered by hydrogen as part of the MissionH24 program, with a specific category for the 24 2024 Hours of Le Mans, capable of challenging Hypercars in the race for the podium! The Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission provides technical support in this approach which brings together seven major partners in the development of hydrogen.
