Nicolas Lapierre: “We find ourselves in a place where we didn’t expect”

As expected, or almost, this Hyperpole honored Toyota of an 8e pole position after the best lap in 3'24"408 Brendon Hartley on the GR010 N°8 in front of the sister car, the N°7. The surprise finally came from the clan Alpine.
In difficulty since the start of the weekend and with an unfavorable BoP according to its leaders, the French team managed to insert itself between the Toyotas and the Glickenhaus after having dreamed of pole position for a while. Nicolas lapierre had in fact propelled the A480 No. 36 provisionally into pole position by crossing the line in 3'24"850 before losing by a little more than 4 tenths.
« The car has progressed very well (compared to free practice), underlined the pilot Alpine at the end of the Hyperpole near Le Mans this Thursday evening. We find ourselves in a place we didn't expect. I was able to do a very good lap thanks to a superb slipstream in front of me. I took advantage of it and the car reacted very well.
It's good to be in front of the Glickenhaus because we knew that the Toyotas were going to finish in front of us. It didn't come down to much. The important thing is that we are better in terms of pace for the race. We will now have to try to stay in touch (Toyotas). »
