Quadruple winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022), Sébastien Buemi was rewarded for these four successes in Sarthe. This Tuesday evening, during the preview screening of the official film of the 2022 edition, the Swiss driver was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Le Mans classic. The latter therefore received the jacket symbolizing this appointment.

“I am very honored to enter the Hall of Fame of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, said Sébastien Buemi. C’est incroyable de se dire que j’ai remporté cette course quatre fois, car il y a encore quelques années cela paraissait impossible. À force de travailler, nous y sommes parvenus alors merci à Toyota et à mes coéquipiers. Je ne pense pas pouvoir battre le record de Tom Kristensen et ses neuf victoires. Nous sommes tous conscients du fait que c’est très difficile de gagner cette course. »

To these four victories at the Sarthe double clock, we must also add three world titles in WEC for Sébastien Buemi (2014, 2018-2019, 2022). All acquired with Toyota where he started at Le Mans in 2012. “The beginnings were difficult, he testifies. We went through all the emotions. In 2016 we were close to victory and we failed in the last lap. There we received a serious blow to the head. We even thought we would never get there. Then, we took on the problems one after the other and success came suddenly. Since 2018, we have experienced incredible things. We look forward to the adversity that will come our way next year. »

The Swiss hopes to add a fifth crown in 2023 on the occasion of the Centenary, still with Toyota. To do this, it will be necessary to tame competition which promises to be fierce with the arrival of new manufacturers. Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot , Cadillac and Glickenhaus will all be there in the Hypercar category. “We will work hard, because we know how competitive other manufacturers will be, believes the person concerned. Despite that, it's not easy to arrive and win straight away, we know that well. We will focus on our weak points and try to improve the car”
