During the 4 Hours of Portimão 2021, Kendy Janclaes admitted to us his desire to move up to the next level in 2022 after a season marked by three victories in ELMS in the LM P3 category and crowned with the European title, synonymous with a ticket for 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022 in LM P2. “We will obviously do the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but not a full season, because we haven't found a car to buy,” the founder and owner of the team told us in the paddock of the Dubai Autodrome. “The objective was to make LM P2, so it’s obviously a disappointment. We are losing a year, but it is not a disaster, and the objective remains present and we will try to have one for the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series, hoping to prepare ourselves for the ELMS. »

The Luxembourg team should therefore approach the Sarthoise classic without experience in this category. “ We don't know LM P2, so it will be a small handicap compared to the others. This is why we have planned four days of testing in addition to the day at Le Mans before the race. So we're going to be driving quite a bit. » Kendy Janclaes, however, hopes for an invitation to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, second round of the WEC, if a place is free. Laurents Hörr and Jean Glorieux will be part of the Sarthe adventure, as for Mathieu de Barbuat, the German's regular teammate for several months, this has not yet been signed “It would be great to do it with him,” nevertheless hopes the team boss.

Without an LM P2 program, DKR Engineering's 2022 will focus on LM P3. Notably in the Michelin Le Mans Cup with Laurents Hörr and Jon Brownson, a 68-year-old American gentleman driver who has already driven with the Luxembourg team in this championship in 2021. The team will also return to IMSA, since it will run at Road America and Petit Le Mans, with “objective of preparing for the 24 2023 Hours of Daytona.” The new German prototype championship, the Germany Cup, should also be on the DKR Engineering calendar this year, still in LM P3.
