Aston Martin at the forefront

The team Aston Martin struck a big blow during qualifying for the 1000 km of the Nürburgring. The British manufacturer managed to place two of its three LMP1s in the first two places. In 1:41.944, pole position went to Stéphane Mücke at the wheel of the number 007 who beat Darren Turner. If we add the Aston Martin of Speedy Racing Team Sebah, there are even three English prototypes which monopolize the lead. Behind, Danny Watts at the wheel of the Ginetta Zyrek, set the fourth time just ahead of the Pescarolo-Judd of the Pescarolo Sport team with Jean-Christophe Boullion on board.

« I chose to spend half the session in the pits to wait for a clear lap. I have a good car and I could have set a better time without the yellow flag. It's great to see two Aston Martin Racing prototypes on the front row. We will try to do our best tomorrow, but it is true that we are in a good position for the race and we have a point for pole”, indicated Stefan Mücke.

If the Aston Martins performed well, relegating the Ginetta-Zytek to more than a second and the Pescarolo-Judd to 1.253 seconds, nothing is yet decided in these 1000 km of the Nürburgring. We remember that the victorious Pescarolo-Judd at Portimao only started from 7th position on the starting grid.

In LMP2, just like in Portimao, it is the Ginetta-Zytek of the Quifel team? ASM who achieved the best time with Olivier Pla at the wheel.
