Aston Martin Racing will prepare for the resumption of the WEC in ELMS

For the first time in its history, Aston Martin Racing will enter European Le Mans TV Shows on the first two events of the 2020 season, the 4 Hours of Le Castellet (July 19) and the 4 Hours of Spa (August 9).

A presence to prepare for the resumption of the 2019-2020 season of the World ChampionshipEndurance WEC in Spa on August 15 and the end of the global campaign.

An Aston Martin Vantage GTE will therefore be entered in ELMS for the trio Ross Gunn – Paul Dalla Lana – Mathias Lauda in the Var, Gunn then giving way to the Brazilian Augustus Farfus for the Ardennes meeting.

A replacement that actually hides a registration in the last three events of the 2019-2020 WEC for Farfus, which will replace Darren turner alongside Dalla Lana and Gunn in the #98 Vantage competing in GTE Am on the world stage.

Gunn and Dalla Lana are in third place in the GTE Am standings, 12,5 points from the lead and will be able to count on the reinforcement of the official BMW driver to try to aim for the title. Turner will focus on the development of the road-going Valkyrie.

“This is the longest break from motorsport we have ever had at Aston Martin Racing, but we have used the time wisely to ensure we are in the best possible position to return to the WEC season, says John Gaw, director of Aston Martin Racing.

The ELMS is a very competitive series where we have always had good success with our customer teams. Darren Turner won the series with Beechdean AMR in 2016 and this represents exactly the kind of challenge we want to get back up to speed before the WEC resumes.

Paul (Dalla Lana) chose to recruit Augusto Farfus to race with him and we look forward to welcoming him to the team. »
