Soon a Ligier Cup to open the ELMS?

In an economic context that is not always easy and faced with an ever more abundant and competitive offer, finding the right field of expression is not a simple thing. Also, according to some indiscretions, Ligier and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) could join forces during the 2020 season with the creation of a curtain-raising championship for endurance races, a championship which would be exclusively dedicated to the French manufacturer.

On track, we would find the recent JS2 R and JS P4, a 980 kg coupe and a 920 kg prototype sharing the same engine, namely a 6 liter Ford V3.7 with 330 hp.

If the format is not yet known, this cup would normally be added to the Michelin Le Mans Cup whose cars (LM P3 and GTE) are more efficient. Thus, the pyramid ofEndurance would be respected. Further details are expected to be announced during the Spanish ELMS round in Barcelona (Spain), July 19-21.
