Delétraz and Ye strengthen Team WRT

Let it be said, Team WRT is not coming back in Endurance to make up the figure. Indeed, the Belgian team confirmed this Tuesday March 2 the two drivers who will accompany Robert Kubica in European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in 2021. This will be Louis Delétraz and Yifei Ye.

The 23-year-old Swiss driver is launching a new challenge in the discipline after his participation in the 24 2020 Hours of Le Mans with Rebellion in LM P1 (4th). “We have a very strong line-up with Robert and Yifei, and I am sure we will be competitive straight away,” explains the former single-seater driver. This is an important step in my career and I am confident that It’s the right thing to do for my future. »

As for the Chinese Yifei Ye, at the age of 20 he took a new step in his reconversion to Endurance, he who was Asian Le Mans Series champion (Asian LMS) with G-Drive Racing this winter. “I am very confident in the ability to maintain this winning momentum, by teaming up with theone of the most talented drivers of all time, I want to talk about Robert. Louis is also a very skilled and experienced pilot. »

In the role of captain, Robert Kubica (36 years old) will try to get used to sharing a steering wheel, he who has only known the karting and car. “I have known Louis since his time in F2, while I have never met Yifei, but both are talented and I am sure we will work well together and with the team. Our package is not the most experienced in LM P2 but with hard work, we will have all the cards to do well. »

The team director, Vincent Vosse, is pumped up before the first event, scheduled for Barcelona (Spain) on April 18. " One more time, we combined talent, youth and experience to compose a line-up. What is really striking about our trio for the ELMS is that it is made up of drivers who we have really wanted to work with for some time and who share a tremendous commitment and motivation for what they do. »

The crew hopes to receive approval from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) in order to start the 24 2021 Hours of Le Mans.
