ELMS – Alpine provisional pole at Red Bull Ring

Nelson Panciatici takes first pole of the season for Alpine at the Red Bull Ring by beating the Zytek of Oliver Turvey's Jota Sport at the very end of the session. Proton Compétition is on pole in the GTEs.

ELMS – Alpine provisional pole at Red Bull Ring

In difficulty in the second free practice session, Signatech-Alpine was able to find the right settings for the qualifications of theELMS au Red Bull Ring. Nelson Panciatici took the best time with a time of 1'23"737 which he achieved in his last flying lap and thus allowed his teammate Pierre Ragues to take advantage of the best place on the starting grid. The driver of the #450 A36 is more than a tenth ahead of the #11 Jota Sport Zytek Z31SN-Nissa which was driven by Oliver Turvey. Brendon Hartley places the Oreca 03-Nissan of Murtphy Prototypes in third place. Mathias Bèche hoists the Oreca 03 of Thiriet by TDS Racing onto the second row, while Franck Mailleux managed to take fifth position at the wheel of the Morgan of Morand Racing. The gaps remain very tight since the first five cars are grouped in less than six tenths. Nicolas Verdonck took LMPC pole with a time of 1’27”631 in the #09 FLM47.

Nicholas Tandy (Proton Compétition) décroche la pole des GTE sur la Porsche 911 GT3 RSR avec laquelle il a signé un chrono de 1’29 »391. Andrea Bertolini (JMW Motorsport) est le plus proche en échouant à un dixième. Johnny Mowlem (Ram Racing) place la Ferrari #52 in third place ahead of sister car #53 driven by Gunnar Jeannette. Jean-Karl Vernay (IMSA Performance Matmut) follows four tenths behind the #67 Porsche, not without having suffered a scare by going wide in the last corner and narrowly recovering his car. His compatriot Emmanuel Collard (Prospeed Compétition) follows in the No. 75 Porsche. Luca Persiani (SMP Racing) sets the best lap in GTC with a time of 1'30"705 in the #72 Ferrari. Kirrill Ladygin follows a few thousandths behind in sister car #69.

The start of the 3 Hours of the Red Bull Ring will be given at 16:30 p.m. The result of qualifying remains pending, with several drivers including the pole-sitter likely to have failed to respect the yellow flags, with one car being stopped at turn 6.
