Le Mans Series: The GTCs are arriving

Following a meeting between the organization Le Mans Series and the manufacturers concerned, the new GTC category took shape last week. Like Formula Le Mans, the aim of this new formula will be to allow new teams and new drivers to access theEndurance at European level in GT for a limited budget over long races.

The eligible cars come from one-make series organized by the Brands themselves. They must be equipped with a reduced kit of parts to adapt them to Endurance races and harmonize their performances.

Three models are selected for 2012:
- Ferrari F430Challenge
– Lotus Evora GT4/GTC
- Porsche 911 Carrera Cup 2010 & 2011

The drivers who will make up the crews will follow the same pattern as the LM GTE AM category: 2 or 3 drivers, with a maximum of one Gold/Platinum driver.

The 2012 Le Mans Series calendar will include 5 races of 1000km or 6 hours in Europe and will be communicated very soon.
