The FLM will have a new Trophy from 2012

The ACO and Oreca have prepared a new Trophy for the 2012 Le Mans Series season which will reward the champions of the Drivers and Teams classifications. The team that wins this Trophy will also be awarded an invitation to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013. As for the winning crew, they will receive a reward of 45 euros to benefit from a seat in the higher categories for the Sarthe event. Finally, the first three in each event will receive prizes in the form of Michelin parts and tires.

Hugues de Chaunac, the director of Oreca, discusses the reasons which pushed his structure and the ACO to improve the category. “Formula Le Mans is today an essential stage”, insists Hugues de Chaunac. “It is both an excellent teacher and a wonderful eye-opener. That being said, we want to make it even more attractive and help drivers and teams take the next step. This is why several new features are appearing. »

Furthermore, the category will no longer be called Fomula Le Mans but LMPC for Le Mans Prototype Challenge, as this name is already in force in ALMS. “Previously, there were LMP1 and LMP2. There will now be the LMPC at their side. This offers better readability and concretely positions the category, whether in Europe or America where this name has been used for several years. L?IMSA also has a desire to propose a “Channel” and an announcement will be made by the end of the Championship. »
