MissionH24 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup peloton

A year later after being officially unveiled here at Spa-Francorchamps, MissionH24 has reached a new level on the Belgian track. Yesterday, the LMPH2G, an electric-hydrogen prototype developed by H24Racing, took part in the two Michelin free practice sessions Le Mans Cup, as part of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, penultimate round of the 2019 European Le Mans Series.

Twenty laps were completed on this occasion by the two development drivers Olivier Lombard and Norman Nato, among the 28 regular competitors in the championship, namely ten GT3s and 18 LM P3s. In fact, it covered the Ardennes slide eight and 12 times respectively in the morning and afternoon, with a best time of 2'33"149, 14"8 off the reference time of the best GT3.

But the margins for improvement are colossal and it would be unfair to judge the potential of the car on this time alone, especially since performance was not the primary goal of its arrival. No, it was mainly about showing the public and the authorities the astonishing “nomadic refueling station” developed by Total and capable of recharging the car with Hydrogen. Mission accomplished with four trips to the “pump”.

The technical teams, under the leadership of Jean-François Weber, will now get back to work, there are many avenues to explore and there is no shortage of solutions...
