Oreca dominates LMS tests

Last Sunday and Monday, on the Paul-Ricard HTTT circuit, the traditional official tests took place Le Mans Series. This year, 38 cars were present to prepare for the endurance season, and to tune up for the first round of the championship, here, in a month.

Obviously, by purchasing a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, Oreca is the team to beat. And yet, at the end of these two days of testing, the best time is to be put to the credit of the other car from Hugues de Chaunac?s team, namely the Oreca 01 AIM entrusted to Soheil Ayari, Andy Meyrick and Didier André. But the goal sought by Olivier Panis, Nicolas lapierre et Loïc duval was not absolute performance but rather getting to know the car. In addition, with freezing temperatures, it was very complicated to get the tires up to temperature, an area where the Dunlops on the Oreca 01 perhaps did better than the Michelins on the diesel-powered car.

The Lioness still signed the second best time in these tests, just ahead of the two Lola Rebellions driven by Marco Andretti and Jean Christophe Boullion.

In LMP2, the best time was set by the HPD ARX 01c entered by Strakka Racing, which precedes the reigning LMS champion Ginetta Zytek by four tenths driven by Frenchman Olivier Pla. L?Aston Martin of the Young Driver is at the top of the GT1 category timesheet, but the Ford GT threat is starting to make itself felt. As for Marco Hozler, he didn't hesitate to get the best time in the GT2 category on Monday aboard his Porsche 997 GT3 RSR from the Prospeed team, the German ahead of the Ferrari CRS Racing F430.
