Tinseau: “It’s great”

After 1000 km and almost six hours of racing, Jean-Christophe Bouillon and Christophe Tinseau won their first victory in Le Mans Series this season and take the lead in the standings. “ When you finish first, it's great, confided Christophe Tinseau on RMC. It’s a great victory »

With the race starting at 19:15 p.m. (Portuguese time), the 1000 km was reached after 1 a.m. Christophe Tinseau recognizes that the format was original. “ These are not usual times for running. It was calculated so that it would start during the day and end at night. Night fell after two hours of racing, when I took over. Jean-Christophe (Bouillon) had to stop quickly when it started to get dark because in Portugal, night falls quickly. And, with his tinted visor, he could no longer see anything. »

By finishing in front of theAston Martin n°007, Bouillon and Tinseau take the lead in the LMS championship. But Christophe Tinseau remains impressed by the results of the English prototype. “ Aston Martin achieves very good results and displays good reliability. In Barcelona they won, they were third at Spa, fourth at Le Mans, second here at Portimao. It is a very beautiful factory. We remain Pescarolo Sport and we do not have the same means. Everyone has worked but victory goes to the one who makes no mistakes. »

The LMS championship visited Portugal and the new Portimao circuit for the first time. The Frenchman gives his opinion on this new track. “ Portimao is like Ledenon, but bigger, wider and faster. I don't know if it's the same for the other drivers, but I had pain in my ribs at the end of the race. »

Christophe Tinseau even admits that a surface problem almost cost the Pescarolo team victory. “ There was this problem with the carpet, which is laid behind the vibrators. When cars passed over it, it tore it apart. And then, when I went over it, it hit the car, and it made me understeer. Because of that, I had to stop earlier than the end of my stint and that would cause us to make an extra stop compared to Aston Martin. But JC (Bouillon) regularly got ahead of them and, what's more, Aston Martin didn't take any risks by making an extra stop. » In the end, everything ended well for the Pescarolo Sport crew, which achieved its third consecutive podium in the Le Mans Series after its two second places, in Barcelona and Spa.
