One year later, Aston Martin returns to Silverstone

Since the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Lola-Aston Martin Officials had no longer ridden in competition. Finally, Prodrive having made the decision to participate in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the coupes in Gulf colors will be at the start of the 1000 Km of Silverstone next week, an event which allowed them in 2009 to win the Le Mans champion crown. Series Teams and Drivers (with Enge-Charouz-Mücke). Of the three members of the crew who won titles last year, none will be part of the LMS final.

The No. 009 will be entrusted to the Dane Juan Barazi and the Briton Sam Hancock, and the 007 will see the Mexican Adrian Fernandez, the Swiss Harold Primat, and the Briton Andy Meyrick, a newcomer to the team, take turns at the wheel. The latter was notably seen this season in the seat of the Oreca 01 at the 8 Hours of Le Castellet and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (with a 4th place result).

“As a Brit, it?s a real honor to drive with Aston Martin at home, Meyrick says. The car proved to be competitive in LMS last year. With Adrian and Harold I have two very good teammates, so I hope to be able to obtain a good result?

The main Aston Martin Racing team also seems delighted with the return to racing of the two superb orange and blue coupes.

“It?s always great to return to Silverstone, for our home race, continues George Howard-Chappel. The fan support there is always exceptional, and we expect six hours of tough competition against the diesels. Andy integrated very well into the crew during testing, and took charge of the car well. I am delighted to welcome him among us.”

Indeed, the last round of the Le Mans Series will also see the return of two other official teams to the championship, namely Audi and Peugeot . The task therefore does not look to be the easiest for the Gaydon team, but it will also be able to count on the French team Signature Plus, still in the running for the teams' title after the third place LMP1 obtained at the 1000 Km of the Hungaroring.
