Danny Watts may be proud of his shot. By setting a time of 1:32:431, he managed to beat all the LMP1s. It is therefore an LMP2 which will start from pole position. Happy with his performance, the Briton and his sidekicks Nick Leventis and Jonny Kane will not be aiming for overall victory.
“We drive in LMP2, explains the Briton. Our goal is therefore not to play with the LMP1s. We are aiming for the title in our category, and our opponents are Oak Racing and RML. The race promises to be long and difficult. We quickly reach the winding sections, but these are portions where we cannot overtake. In a straight line, however, the LMP1s are more powerful, and therefore have an advantage. The key to the race will be patience, especially in traffic. »
At his side, the victorious HPD 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2 will find the Lola-Rebellion of Jean-Christophe Boullion. The latter put in an excellent performance, even if he was knocked out of pole position by Danny Watts in the very last seconds of the session.
?I?m super happy for the team, declares the double LMS champion with Pescarolo. Everyone has done a great job since the start of the week. After two difficult races it feels good. A little disappointed to be beaten by an LMP2, but we can only congratulate them. We knew they would be quick here. The most important thing for us is tonight's race where we need to score big points to save our place on the championship podium. We will do our best, the hardest part will first be to reach the finish without any problems. »
