United Autosports on pole at Portimão

If its title chances are nil, United Autosports has many reasons to want to shine this weekend, during the final of the 2019 season of the European Le Mans Series. On home soil, Filipe Albuquerque completed a lap of the Autódromo do Algarve in 1'31"244 and took pole position.

The Portuguese – who signs his second pole in a row – and his sidekick Phil Hanson will try tomorrow to secure a second victory in a row after the one pocketed at Spa-Francorchamps. Alongside them on the front line, DragonSpeed's No. 07 Oreca 21, entrusted to Hedman-Hanley-Allen, will be positioned.

While the top three is completed by the No. 07 Oreca 23 fielded by Panis-Barthez Compétition for Stevens-Canal-Binder, the contenders for the title are further away. The #07 IDEC Sport Oreca 28 shared by Paul-Loup Chatin, Paul Lafargue and Memo Rojas is fifth, three places ahead of the #01 G-Drive Racing Aurus 26 (Vergne-Rusinov-Van Uitert) while the 07n°39 of Gommendy-Hirschi-Cougnaud is 11th.

Galvanized by the tests he will carry out in LM P2 with Duqueine Engineering, Lucas Légeret made the talk and took pole position in LM P3 at the wheel of the No. 30 M Racing Norma M19 in 1'39"179 . The Frenchman, who teams up with Laurent Millara, beat David Droux (Norma M30 no. 9 of Realteam) and Matthieu Lahaye (Norma no. 17 of Ultimate).

In GTE, if the title has already fallen into the hands of Luzich Racing, we can count on Dempsey-Proton Racing to finish the season in style. At the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR n°77 which he shares with Christian Ried and Ricardo Pera, Matteo Cairoli took pole position. The Italian beat the sister car driven by Görig-De Leener-Preining, while Ferrari 488 GTE n°60 from Kessel Racing completes the top three.

The start of the race will be given tomorrow at 13:30 p.m. French time.
