Unexpected victory for TDS Racing

The 6 Hours of Estoril will have kept the suspense until the very last lap. Victory in the LMP2 category seemed promised to the Kraihamer-Ebbesvik duo. But the Oreca 03-Nissan of the Belgian team encountered a brake problem in the last loop of the Portuguese circuit, offering first place on a silver platter to the Beche-Thiriet-Firth crew of the Oreca of the TDS Racing.

The French team no longer hoped to finish on the first step of the podium. Mathias Beche savors this victory which concludes the season of Le Mans Series. “It’s a nice revenge”, comments the TDS Racing driver at the finish. “Luck has finally turned in our favor. We showed some great things during the tests. We made some adjustments to the car, which certainly prevented us from taking pole. »

The No. 46 started from third place in the category before taking the advantage over the Zytek Z11SN of Ojjeh-Kimber-Smith-Lombard (Greaves Motorsport) and the HPD ARX-01d of Leventis-Watts-Kane ( Strakka Racing). “The car did not have the slightest problem, but we suffered with the tires”, adds the Swiss. “The whole team did a great job and the car ran like clockwork. To be honest, we expected to finish second. I'm sorry to Boutsen Energy Racing. »
