24 Hours of Daytona – Porsche lines up 8 factory drivers

In 2012, Porsche had been untouchable in GT during the fiftieth anniversary of the 24 Hours of Daytona. The German brand had in fact placed three of its Porsche 997 GT3 Cup on the three steps of the podium. It was the official driver Richard Lietz and his teammates who gave Magnus Racing the final victory. By announcing its contingent of drivers lined up for the two Florida clock towers, which will take place on January 26 and 27, we must believe that the German brand really wants to repeat its performance from last year.

In total, eight factory drivers, and two juniors, will take part in the 24 Hours of Daytona at the wheel of 911 GT3 Cups. The Austrian title holder, Richard Lietz, will be present again with Magnus Racing, Joerg Bergmeister and the Frenchman Romain Dumas will be with the TRG team. The other tricolor entered by Porsche, Patrick Pilet, will race with MOMO/NGT Motorsport. Marc Lieb (Brumos Racing), Marco Holzer (Alex Job Racing), Patrick Long (Park Place Motorsports) and Nick Tandy (Konrad Motorsport/Orbit), who will compete here in his first race as an official driver, complete this list.

“This race is legendary”, says Patrick Pilet. “With the best drivers from different competitions, the battle for victory is often open until the very last lap. That?s what makes Daytona so exciting. » “Daytona is not only a very competitive race, especially in GT”, judge for his part Romain Dumas. ?It?s also an opportunity to compete against drivers from other competitions. It’s always an interesting comparison.”
