24h Daytona – H+19: Action Express in charge

The 24 Hours of Daytona were the scene of a series of mechanical failures which created significant gaps at the top of the general classification. While the Acura ARX-05s of Team Penske were in the lead before sunrise, it is now the Cadillac DPIs of Action Express Racing that are in control of the race with five hours to go before the checkered flag.

No. 6 by Cameron-Montoya-Pagenaud dropped to tenth after an alternator problem while sister car #7 suffered a collision caused by Helio Castroneves which collided with the No. 31 of Felipe Nasr. The latter has suffered less since it occupies second place, currently being led by Eric Curran who is three laps behind leader Christian Fittipaldi in the No. 5.

The No. 217 United Autosports Ligier JS P32 driven by Di Resta-Owen-De Sadeleer-Senna moved up into the leading trio before being stopped in the pits and falling back to fifth position. Third place goes to the Oreca 07 of Core Autosports entrusted to Romain Dumas who precedes by three laps the No. 07 Oreca 78 of Jackie Chan DC Racing on which Ho-Pin Tung evolves. The second Ligier from the team of Zak Brown and Richard Dean on which Fernando Alonso with Lando Norris and Phil Hanson is in 19th place.

Wayne Taylor Racing decided to retire its No. 7 DPI Cadillac driven by Jordan Taylor, Renger van der Zande and Ryan Hunter-Reay due to multiple unexplained punctures. This phenomenon has struck several Prototypes since the start of the race.

The Ford GTs maintain control of the GTLM. The n°66 of Dirk Müller (teammate of Sébastien Bourdais) is in command of the category in 11th position in the general classification, being followed on the same lap by the sister car #67 of Ryan Briscoe. The cars at the Blue Oval are ahead of the two Corvette C7Rs, Jan's No. 3 Magnussen occupying third place ahead of the No. 4 of Oliver Gavin.
