GTP
The No. 31 Whelen Engineering car, driven by pole sitter Pipo Derani, retained the lead at the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona, and if Nick Tandy got the better of Sébastien Bourdais at the green flag, the Frenchman quickly recovered his 2nd place thanks to a nice overtake at the first turn, with his No. 01 Cadillac.
However, the Full Course Yellow caused by Misha Goikhberg (see GTD) shook up the standings, which allowed Acura and WTRAndretti to take the lead with Ricky Taylor in the #10, ahead of the #01 Cadillac and the Porsche No. 7. The #963 Porsche 6 lost some time in the pits due to a quick steering control.
LM P2
In LM P2, it's the No. 07 Oreca 04 from the Crowdstrike Racing team which leads the way, ahead of the No. 2 United Autosports and the No. 52 Inter Europol Competition driven by Clément's last-minute replacement. Novalak, Pietro Fittipaldi.
If the start was wise in the category, the restart after the Full Course Yellow was more chaotic: Steven Thomas (TDS Racing n°11) and PJ Hyett (AO) made contact and spun , while the #20 MDK by High Class Racing was hit by the #14 Lexus of Mike conway (started from pole position in GTD Pro) at the exit of the first turn. The United Autosports No. 22 had to return to the pits a second time for a quick repair and left last in its class.
HEARTBREAK for the defending GTD Pro champions.

GTD Pro / GTD
In the GT categories, after the accident of the No. 14 Lexus of the Vasser Sullivan team, it is a GTD which is in the lead, the No. 12 Lexus of the Vasser Sullivan team. In GTD Pro, Andrea Caldarelli leads his category aboard his No. 19 Lamborghini Iron Lynx.
Misha Goikhberg had the unfortunate honor of triggering the first Full Course Yellow of the 24 Hours of Daytona, by hitting the wall of tires in the chicane Le Mans, aboard the #78 Lamborghini of the Winward Racing team. The No. 13 Corvette from the AWA team also suffered a power steering problem in the first minutes of the race.
