ALMS 2013 – The BMW M3 makes way for the Z4

BMW North America will field a new model in the ALMS next year. The M3 E92 will give way to the Z4 already present, in GT3 version, in many disciplines such as the Blancpain Endurance Series, the VLN or even the GT1 World Championship. This GT3 version which will also be selected to defend the manufacturer's colors with the propeller at the 24 hours of Dubai, Spa or the Nürburgring.

The identity of the drivers chosen for the 2013 American season Le Mans Series has not yet been revealed. But the success of the Z4 in GT3 races makes the Munich firm confident about its chances of success with its new car. “This model change is proof that we are now focusing solely on the BMW Z4, comments Jens Marquardt, BMW sporting director. The BMW Z4 has had great success on the GT3 scene in recent years and has proven itself capable of winning races. I'm sure this car (in its GTE version. Editor’s note) will also play a major role in ALMS. » As a reminder, with Team RLL, BMW won two Team titles (2010 and 2011) and a Driver title (Joey Hand and Dirk Werner in 2011) in the GT category of the ALMS. It’s a shame that a commitment WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in parallel is not (at least for the moment) mentioned.
