ALMS: Muscle Milk and Corvette triumph at Long Beach

Qualifying canceled due to bad weather, competitors were placed on the starting grid by category, and in championship order. It was therefore the Lola B12/60-Mazda of Dyson Racing which inherited pole position. After quickly taking the lead, Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf stopped twice during the one and only neutralization of the race, which allowed them to finish the event without having to return to the pit box. A strategy...lucky and profitable, which allowed the HPD ARX 03a to win its first victory. A convincing result, which allows the team of Greg Pickett and his Luhr-Graf duo to return to the general classification on equal points with the Smith-Dyson pair, second in the streets of the Californian city.

In GT, the battle was, as usual, very close. And in the end it was Corvette which won ahead of BMW…the opposite of Sebring. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner bring their C6.R ZR1 to victory, beating Hand-D's BMW M3. Müller and the Ferrari 458 Italia Extreme Speed from the Van Overbeek-Sharp pair. Winners at Sebring, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller nevertheless retain the reins of the general classification in the category.

The LMP2s at the start of the race were few in number but of quality. But surprisingly, it was an Oreca 09 FLM which finished third overall, namely the one fielded by Core Autosport and entrusted to the Popow-Dalziel duo. This is Popow's second victory in as many races contested. The Venezuelan is already leading the LMPC. The first LMP2, you have to go back to tenth place to find it. It is, just like in Sebring, the HPD ARX 03b Level 5 Motorsports shared by the American Scott Tucker with the Frenchman Christophe Bouchut. Finally, the victory in GTC is to the credit of the Green Hornet team and the LeSaffre-Faulkner crew.

Next round, the last one before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the weekend of May 12, on the legendary Laguna Seca track.
