To win the title IMSA in 2022 following the final scheduled for Petit Le Mans (September 28-October 1), the Wayne Taylor Racing team dreamed big by securing the services of a fine triggerman from the World Endurance Championship (WEC), Brendon Hartley.
The New Zealand driver will indeed join the WTR for the event contested on the hilly Road Atlanta track and will lend a hand to the holders Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque aboard the Acura ARX-05. The WTR will arrive at Petit Le Mans at the top of the general DPi team classification with 19 points ahead of Meyer Shank Racing.

“I am very happy to join Wayne TaylorRacing for Petit Le Mans, declared the three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I have competed against them many times in the past and it is clear that they know how to win races and championships. When Wayne called me a few weeks ago, I jumped at the chance, especially having Ricky and Filipe as teammates.
I've done Petit Le Mans four times before (victory in 2017 with Extreme Speed Motorsport. Editor’s note) and it's a special event for me. This is the race in which I made my debut in Endurance in the United States in 2012. It's a difficult, old-fashioned circuit that all drivers love. I am well aware that WTR is in the middle of a championship fight, which adds a bit of pressure, and I am ready for the challenge. I have already started talking with the engineers and my new teammates who are giving me all the information I need to help me get up and running quickly. »
Team owner Wayne Taylor is delighted to finally sign the two-time world endurance champion. “ Brendon and I have been in contact for several years now, looking for the right opportunity to work together. He is extremely talented and what he brings to our work is exemplary. His record at Le Mans, in F1 and in the World Endurance Championship speaks for itself. Just as importantly, he will be a great teammate for Ricky and Filipe and will fit in perfectly with our team. »
