At Road Atlanta, Acura Team Penske emerged as the fastest team, at least in qualifying. Indeed, Dane Cameron, at the wheel of the No. 05 Acura ARX-6 DPi, set the best time of the session in 1'08.
At the finish line, he beat the No. 7 of his teammate Ricky Taylor by only 94 thousandths. The two men thus offered Acura Team Penske the first row in the Dpi category for the Small Le Mans. The #31 Cadillac DPi-VR of the Derani/Albuquerque/Nasr trio (Whelen Engineering Racing) took third place on the grid.
In the LMP2 category, pole position went to the #07 PR52 ORECA 1 from Mathiasen Motorsports. Patrick Kelly completed the lap in 11'11"590.
In GTLM, the No. 3 Corvette of the Garcia-Taylor-Catsburg crew (Corvette Racing) will start in the lead after beating the No. 8 BMW M25 GTE (BMW Team RLL) by almost three tenths (1'15"434) .
In GTD, the Farnbacher-McCurry-Michimi trio from Meyer Shank Racing will start from first position on the grid. The No. 3 Acura NSX GT86 clocked 1'19 on the Road Atlanta track.
