Corvette ideally wants to launch an anniversary season

#3: Corvette Racing, Corvette C8.R GTD, GTD PRO: Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor, Tommy Milner

The first Free Practice session at Roar Daytona on Friday was marked by three red flags. One of them was caused by the Corvette C8.R of Antonio Garcia, Tommy Milner and Jordan Taylor. The latter spoke about the problem encountered.

« We had a steering problem, and the guys are taking care of it, he explained. We left the bus stop and didn't have many options. There's not much room for error here and we had some contact. It's really unfortunate to start the week this way, but we'd rather do it now than later this week or next week during the Rolex. »

The time spent on track during this first day gave a first insight into traffic management with the new GTPs compared to recent years with the DPi.

« If we were in GTLM spec which was five to seven seconds faster per lap than we are now, maybe we could trouble them in the infield, Judge Antonio Garcia. Now we are much slower than them. We can see in a straight line that they are much faster. Perhaps we will embarrass each other less. »

These 24 Hours of Daytona mark the start of the 25th season of the Corvette Racing program. The trio hopes to offer a nice birthday present to Boys next weekend with a new success in Florida. This would be the fifth victory for Corvette Racing after 2001, 2015, 2016 and 2021.

« This is why we are here, approves Milner, the third driver of the team. It is one of the biggest races of the year with Le Mans. Daytona is a big goal of our season and it would be great to fulfill it for the program's 25th season. General Motors and Pratt & Miller have done a great job over the years. »

Still associated with Larbre Competition for the WEC

This 25th season will also be marked by full-time participation in the WEC in LMGTE Am. The Chevrolet sports division will always rely on Larbre Competition for logistics in the World Championship.Endurance.

« Considering all the chaos of getting a car across the world, the team did an incredible job last year “, greets Laura Wontrop Klauseer, the manager of sports programs at General Motors, which includes both Corvette and Cadillac.

« We have a very good working relationship with Larbre Comptition, who supports us in logistics, she continues. We wanted to continue on this path. We found our rhythm and it made sense to continue for 2023 since we know how to do it. We will assess the situation for GT3 when we begin European operations. »

In 2024, Corvette will indeed launch its Z06 GT3.R in competition.
