Dawson teams up with Transformers for 2018

On the sidelines of Petit’s meeting Le Mans, Dawson Racing team managers Ian and his son Simon Dawson revealed their plans for the 2018 season in IMSA : a Ligier Gibson JSP 217 LMP2 in the colors of the famous Transformers toys and films.

On the front muzzle we can see the logo of the Autobots, the heroes of the Transformers franchise. “Children of all ages will be intrigued and attracted to this car”, rejoices Scott Atherton, president of IMSA. “It’s a proud moment for my son Simon and myself”, continues Ian Dawson. “We have been working on this program for many months. »

The American team is scheduled to take part in IMSA collective testing on December 5-6 at Daytona International Speedway, before competing in the full IMSA next season in the Prototype class.

The identity of one of the two drivers has also been revealed, in the person of Robbie Kerr. Former representative of Great Britain in A1 GP, he won the British championship F3 in 2002. Robbie Kerr, aged 38, also took pole position in the LMP2 category at the 24 2008 Hours of Le Mans, in a Barazi-Epsilon.
