Satisfaction in the ranks of Acura after the ARX-06 LMDh Shakedown

After Porsche, Ferrari and more recently Cadillac, Acura is the latest manufacturer to have sent its prototype to the track. Scheduled for the end of June at Paul-Ricard, the Shakedown of the ARX-06 LMDh had been postponed to mid-July, still on the Var route. But with the French Grand Prix planned there, the American manufacturer was only able to use the Castellet aerodrome.
Acura then continued its run-in at Magny-Course where Ricky Taylor and Matt McMurry, engineer at Honda Performance Developement, took turns at the wheel of the ARX-06 LMDh for two days where they were even able to drive during the night. In Nièvre, technical support was provided by Wayne Taylor Racing, a team used to entering Acura's DPi in IMSA.
« Of course, it is still early, but I must say that we are very satisfied with the results of the first two preliminary tests carried out last week at Paul Ricard, then of the two days of the last weekend at Magny-Cours, which extended during the night of Saturday and Sunday, points out David Salters, president and technical director of HPD. All team members from Oreca, HPD and Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing worked together in an extraordinary manner to prepare and complete these first tests. For the moment, Acura has only confirmed its presence in IMSA for the 2023 season where Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing will each operate an ARX-06 LMDh, joining Porsche, Cadillac and even BMW. The first team mentioned should also hire a 2e prototype from the North American manufacturer from 2024 where a presence at Le Mans cannot be ruled out even if confirmation has not yet been made.
