Frédéric Makowiecki joins Nick Tandy in 2020

Titré en GTLM en 2019 avec l’équipage « Bamthor » Earl Bamber – Laurens Vanthoor, Porsche North America fera de nouveau confiance au Néo-Zélandais et au Belge sur la 911 RSR n°912 en 2020 en IMSA in an attempt to retain his crown.

But the German brand, whose cars are operated by CORE Autosport on the other side of the Atlantic, will modify the other crew which saw Patrick Pilet support Nick Tandy this year.

Auscitain will be replaced on the 911 RSR n°911 by his compatriot Frédéric Makowiecki. The former Porsche Carrera Cup France 2010 champion, mainly entered in WEC in recent seasons, in addition to his various programs in GT3 (GT World Challenge, 24 Hours of Spa or the Nürburgring), will therefore be engaged full-time as in 2016 in the United States, where he supported Earl Bamber.

“Mako”, however, knows the GTLM peloton well having competed in IMSA endurance races on several occasions, with victories at Sebring in 2019 and 2018 and at Petit Le Mans in 2018.

On the sleeves Endurance from Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans, the Makowiecki – Tandy and Bamber – Vanthoor pairs will be supported by Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet. Note also that the new 911 RSR will make its debut in the United States next year after having taken to the track in the WEC since last July.
