Grand-Am – Starworks again winner in Indianapolis

Alex Popow and Ryan Dalziel took victory at the Brickyard Grand Prix held on the Indianapolis road course. Rubens Barrichello, associated with Doug Peterson, finished in the top five with the Doran Racing Ford-Dallara.

Grand-Am – Starworks again winner in Indianapolis

Alex Popow, partnered this year with Ryan Dalzizl, and Starworks Motorsport secured their second consecutive victory on the Indianapolis road circuit at the wheel of the No. 2 BMW-Riley, after winning last year with the help of by Sébastien Bourdais who this year defended the colors of 8Star Motorsport. Victory Lane was uncertain until the final seconds as Ryan Dalziel only took the checkered flag three seconds ahead of the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing BMW-Riley of Scott Pruett who was driving alongside Memo Rojas. “I didn’t know whether to kiss the bricks or the mechanics first”, commented the Scot. “Our new BMW engine had only arrived the week before. We felt like we had a special car this year. »

The winners take the lead in the Championship with nine points ahead of Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney, the crew of the No. 99 Bob Stallings Racing Corvette DP which completes the podium ahead of the second Starworks BMW-Riley driven by Brendon Hartley, Pierre Kaffer and Scott Mayer. For his first race in the Daytona Prototype, Rubens Barrichello took fifth place alongside Doug Peterson in the No. 77 Doran Racing Ford-Dallara. The French from 8Star Motorsports are further back: Stéphane Sarrazin, associated with Enzo Potolicchio and Michael Valiante, finished in eighth place, while Sébastien Bourdais and Emilio DiGuida were ranked just outside the top ten.

Andy Lally et John Potter complètent le top trois sur la Porsche GT3 n°44 du Magnus Racing. Sylvain Tremblay et Tom Long s’imposent en GX sur la Mazda 6 n°70.
