Christian Fittipaldi set the fastest time in qualifyingIMSA in Detroit (Michigan) by setting a time of 1'23''815 in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP. Marc Goossens was the closest in the No. 90 of VisitFlorida Racing, failing by half a tenth.

The #10 Wayne Taylor Racing of the Taylor brothers follows four tenths ahead of the #31 Action Express Racing of Cameron-Curran. The Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2 of Legge-Negri Jr completes the top five on the grid.

Robert Alon won his second pole in a row in the Prototype Challenge category with a time of 1'27''571 in the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports. In GTD, it was Bryan Sellers who achieved the best performance with a time of 1'31''340 at the wheel of the No. 48 Lamborghini Huracan.
