IMSA – Action Express sees double at Watkins Glen

Discreet since the start of the weekend on the legendary Watkins Glen track (New York), the Corvette DPs showed their full racing potential during these 6 Hours of the “Glen”, counting for theIMSA Sportscar Championship and the North American Endurance Cup

Action Express Racing completes the event with a double led by the n°5 by Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi, ahead of the No. 31 of Dane Cameron and Eric Curran. The Ligier JS P2s remained in the running for victory until the end but the n°2 of ESM by Luis Felipe Derani – Scott Sharp – Johannes Van Overbeek was forced to abandon a little over an hour from the finish due to engine problems. Previously, the creation of Onroak Automotive had encountered a power steering problem, resolved by the team during a neutralization.

Olivier Pla, associated with John Pew and Ozz Negri Jr, put the Ligier JS P2 – Honda of Michael Shank Racing on the podium in front of the No. 10 Corvette DP of Wayne Taylor Racing and the No. 70 Mazda. In the PC category, Starworks Motorsport wins with the duo Renger Van der Zande – Alex Popow.

Ford continues its momentum of 24 Hours of Le Mans in GT and achieves the double in GTLM with the No. 67s of Briscoe – Westbrook and n°66 of Hand – Müller. The two blue oval cars won ahead of the #6 BMW M25 of Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner. The Ford / BMW duel animated the entire event, even if the Ferrari 488 of Team Corsa came to the forefront for a time to finally finish 5th behind the first Corvette C7.R of Gavin – Milner.
