IMSA – Corvette signs its 100th GTLM success at Lime Rock Park

Starworks Motorsport takes its third victory in four races with the overall victory of the No. 09 FLM8 of Renger van der Zande and Alex Popow at Lime Rock Park (Connecticut), the final three categories of theIMSA being the only ones represented this weekend.

The Dutchman maintained the advantage over the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports driven by Tom Kimber Smith and Robert Alon by winning by eight tenths after a fourth interruption of the race. The Starworks Motorsport crew thus consolidates its lead in the LMPC Championship, while Kyle Marcelli and James French complete the podium in the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports.

The No. 54 Core Autosport of Colin Braun and Jonathan Bennett, which started from pole, was less successful since it retired after being involved in several incidents.

In GTLM, victory went to the No. 7 C4R of Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin, winners with less than a second ahead of the sister car of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen which give Corvette a double. The American brand also achieved its 100th victory in GTLM.

Yet it was the Ferrari 488 GTE n°62 of Risi Competizione led by Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander which seemed well on its way to winning, but the Italian finally failed at the foot of the podium behind the Ford GT n°67 of Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook after having been caught in an incident at the end of the race.

The Team RLL BMW M6s both retired after finishing their race in the tire wall. THE Porsche 911 RSR did not have much more success since the No. 912 of Frédéric Makowiecki and Earl Bamber was the victim of contact, while the sister car of Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy encountered mechanical problems following the passage on a vibrator a little too strong.

In GTD, victory went to Andy Lally and John Potter at the wheel of the No. 8 Magnus Racing Audi R44 LMS.
