IMSA – ESM back with two Ligiers in 2017

As we announced to you in issue 2081 of AUTOhebdo, Extreme Speed Motorsports will abandon the WEC to come back and argueIMSA. Lacking results in the World ChampionshipEndurance, boss-drivers Scott Sharp and Ed Brown will not participate in the final three rounds of the WEC, leaving their places to Giedo van der Garde, Antonio Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael.

The Florida team will enter two Ligier JS P217s powered by a Nissan unit in the IMSA DPi category. Operation will be provided by Oak Racing.

“ESM has had an incredible experience over the last 24 months racing on some great circuits, but we are delighted to be joining IMSA”, commented Scott Sharp.

“The DPi program looks exciting. We will not only be able to race on our home soil but also fight for victory overall., said Ed Brown. It will be wonderful to be associated with a world-class brand like Nissan. We expect to be very competitive from the first race. »

With the presence of Scott Sharp and Ed Brown, ESM should also field Ryan Dalziel and Johannes van Overbeek. The American team started its 2016 season very strongly, winning the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida) in quick succession.
