IMSA – ESM on pole at Watkins Glen

Johannes van Overbeek was the fastest during qualifying for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen (New York). The driver of the no.2 ESM Ligier JS P2 set a time of 1'35''207 to give his team the first pole of the season, beating the no.55 Mazda Prototype of Tristan Nunez by a tenth. . Ozz Negri Jr completed the top three in the #60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier.

While Ford has confirmed the extension of its program until 2019, Richard Westbrook placed the first Ford GT on pole in the GTLM category with a time of 1'41''301. The #67 Ford GT beat the two Team RLL BMW M6s which failed a few tenths off the benchmark.

The No. 09 Starworks Motorsports FLM8 of van der Zande-Popow took pole in the LMPC class. In GTC, Stevenson Motorsports took first place with Liddell-Davis' Audi R8 LMS.
