IMSA – Fässler and Rockenfeller soon back with Corvette

Marcel Fässler and Mike Rockenfeller will take the wheel of the Corvette C7Rs again during the final of theIMSA to Small Le Mans at Road Atlanta (Georgia). The official Audi drivers, who have already defended the interests of the American manufacturer by participating in the double at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring at the start of the year, will support the two crews fighting for the title in the category GTLM.

Marcel Fässler will find Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner at the top of the GTLM Drivers' standings before the Lone Star Le Mans contested in Austin (Texas) this weekend with whom he won the first two races of the calendar.

“I am very happy to have the opportunity to drive for Corvette Racing again at Petit Le Mans. It's a pleasure to drive the C7 R on long races, assured the Swiss. Road Atlanta is an event that I already know (first entry in 2009) and it is a real challenge. The goal will be to help Oliver and Tommy in the Championship by gaining as many points as possible. Personally, I dream of a first victory at Petit Le Mans. »

Mike Rockenfeller will find Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen who are currently in third position in the GTLM standings, 28 points behind their teammates.

“I’m delighted to be reunited with Corvette Racing at Petit Le Mans and I can’t wait to race again at Road Atlanta, added the 2013 champion of DTM. This is where I competed in my first race in Endurance and I will always have good memories of this circuit. With Antonio and Jan, we had excellent pace and good reliability during the first two races of the season. I hope we do even better by winning Petit Le Mans. »

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner are only seven points ahead of Ford drivers Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe. Chevrolet has a 16-point lead over Ford with two races remaining in the season.
