IMSA – Mazda and Corvette on pole at Mosport

Still on pace since the start of free practice in Canada, the Mazdas confirmed this Saturday in qualifying, with the No. 55 of Tristan Nunez, adorned with its livery in homage to the 787b winner at Le Mans in 1991, which will start in pole position tomorrow. Author of a personal reference in 1'10″126, Nunez beat the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP of Ricky Taylor by 309 thousandths while the second Mazda of Tom Long will start in third position alongside the Corvette DP n°5 of Action Express Racing from the Barbosa – Fittipaldi pair.

In GTLM, Corvette continued its testing momentum with the C7.R n°3 of Antonio Garcia at the forefront. But the Ford threat reappeared as the two GTs #66 of Dirk Müller and #67 of Richard Westbrook were placed in the wake of the leading Corvette. Remember that the cars with the blue oval saw the Balance of Performance adjusted against them before this Canadian meeting. Followed by the two BMW M6s from Team RLL and the Ferrari 488 du Risi Competizione alors que les deux Porsche 911 RSR, en retrait depuis le début du week-end, ferment la marche dans la catégorie.

In PC and GTD, Colin Braun (Oreca FLM09 n°54 – CORE Autosport) and Alex Ribeiras (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°23 – Alex Job Racing) took the respective poles.
