IMSA – Mazda lifts the veil on its RT24-P DPi

After the era of the Daytona Prototypes until the end of the 2016 championship, the DPi will take over next January at the 24 Hours of Daytona in Florida (January 28-29). And we can say that the newcomers look great.

As evidenced by the RT24-P presented in Los Angeles, California this Wednesday. The latest from Mazda Design Americas and Multimatic will be entered by Mazda Motorsports for a full two-car program. The examples will be entrusted to already confirmed drivers Jonathan Bomarito, Tristan Nunez, Tom Long and Joel Miller.

“Working with Multimatic's aerodynamic specialists and engineers, we discovered that applying KODO's design philosophy to the car's surfaces and silhouette allowed us to create a design that was dynamic and deliberate and highly aerodynamically efficient. » says Ken Saward, head of design at Mazda Design Americas.

The chassis developed by Riley/Multimatic will be powered by a 2,0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit producing nearly 600 hp.
