IMSA – Michael Shank remains positive for Sebring

Michael Shank Racing will seek to forget its disappointment at the 24 Hours of Daytona by competing in the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 19. His No. 2 Ligier JS P60 had performed well on the Florida double-lap before the mechanics failed during the night.

“We made good progress during the Sebring tests carried out last month”, underlines Mike Shank, the director of the Ohio team. “The car was not as good as hoped at the start as has been the case in the past, but we were able to get things back on track. The Balance of Performance affected us after Daytona. The chassis will be much more stressed with the 17 turns of the circuit and I think we have found good adjustments on the general balance. Sebring is very tough on the cars, but I think ours is capable of a good result. »

The director of Michael Shank Racing will be able to count on the presence of Olivier Pla who has come to lend a hand to John Pew and Oswaldo Negro Jr. “His experience is exactly what we need. He can complete the requested number of turns even if he has been busy doing other things elsewhere in the world. He can get back in the car and do exactly what he's told," adds Mike Shank.

“The tests went well”, specifies the last pole-sitter of the 12 Hours of Sebring in a Ligier JS P2 entered by Oak Racing. “The numerous set-up changes paid off. I'm pretty confident for the race. The Ligier was fast last year at Sebring and it will be a good thing if we maintain this pace. »
