IMSA – Scott Pruett will end his career after Daytona

One of the figures of endurance events in the United States will bow out at the end of the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 28.

Scott Pruett, resident of the Lexus fold and aligned on the double Florida clock tower on one of the two RC F GT3 of 3GT Racing in the GTD category, will put an end to his driving career, which lasted almost 50 years following his debut in karting.

A regular in Grand-Am racing, and a long-time figurehead of Chip Ganassi Racing, Pruett was crowned champion five times in the series (2004, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012), and won five times at Daytona (1994, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013), once at Sebring (2014) and triumphed at Le Mans in 2001 in the GTS category with Corvette. There Nascar and l'IndyCar (two victories) also saw the Californian pass.

“As an athlete, if you are fortunate enough to have a long and successful career, and are lucky enough to finish the way you want to, then you are blessed, and I am, Pruett comments. After 50 years of racing, the 24 2018 Hours of Daytona will be my last event.

It's a magical place, and I love it. What better place than this place to say goodbye to this sport that I love, surrounded by my peers and my fans. I'm excited about the next chapter of my life. »
