IMSA – Wayne Taylor Racing ultra-dominant in qualifying in Austin

1″592. The gap between Ricky Taylor (Cadillac DPi-VR n°10 – Wayne Taylor Racing) and his competitors at the end of qualifying for the Texas round of the Lone Star Le Mans en IMSA is eloquent.

Winner with his brother Jordan of the first three rounds of the season at Daytona, Sebring and Long Beach, the American driver continued the domination displayed by the WTR prototype since the start of the weekend, only hampered in EL3 by technical problems.

Behind the leading Cadillac, we find the #22 Ligier-Nissan DPi – ESM of Johannes Van Overbeek, while Eric Curran places the #31 Cadillac DPi-VR – Action Express Racing in third place ahead of the #5 sister car. 52 of Barbosa – Fittipaldi and the No. 1 Ligier DPi – PRXNUMX/Mathiasen Motorsports of José Gutiérrez.

The first Mazda RT24-P is more than 2″3 behind in seventh position with the #55 of Jonathan Bomarito. In PC, James French logically places the #09 Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca FLM38 at the top of the hierarchy after dominating free practice.

BMW takes the best Ferrari

The session was much more contested in GTLM, since only 32 thousandths separated the #6 BMW M24 – Team RLL of John Edwards on pole from the #488 Ferrari 62 – Risi Competizione of Giancarlo Fisichella.

The second BMW #25 moved up to third place and preceded the two Ford GTs #67 and #66 from Ford Chip Ganassi Racing of Ryan Briscoe and Dirk Müller. Jan’s #7 Corvette C3.R Magnussen suit au classement devant la Porsche 911 RSR n°911 de Patrick Pilet, qui concède deux dixièmes sur le temps de la pole.

In GTD, Mathieu Jaminet continues his more than positive weekend in IMSA by taking pole position in the category aboard the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT28 R – Amegra Motorsports, 92 thousandths ahead of the No. 3 Lexus RC F GT15 – 3GT Racing by Jack Hawksworth.
