Jamie Whincup with SunEnergy1 at Laguna Seca

Jamie Whincup's appearances outside the Supercars championship remain rare. The legend of the Australian series, titled seven times, won the 2017 Hours of Bathurst in 12 in a Ferrari 488 GT3 – Maranello Motorsport, before competing in the 2018 edition on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 – SunEnergy1 with boss-driver Kenny Habul, Tristan Vautier and Raffaele Marciello, with a second place.

A result which convinced Kenny Habul to recall Jamie Whincup to play with him during the penultimate round of theIMSA, from September 7 to 9 on the Laguna Seca route (California). Whincup will therefore find a familiar universe, but will have to discover the legendary American route.
