IMSA launches the “36 Hours of Florida” in Pro-Am in 2018

Placed at the opening of the championship, the two Florida events of 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring appear as the two highlights of the season IMSA. The officials of the American series wanted to highlight the Pro-Am crews in the Prototype category from 2018.

Concretely, the Pro-Am crew best classified in LM P2 in each race will be awarded the Trueman Pro-Am Team Endurance Award. During the 24 Hours of Daytona, the winners will also receive a Rolex watch.

Attract new teams

In addition to this new trophy, the IMSA organizers will launch the “International Team Incentive Program”, initiated to attract new teams in the Prototypes and GTD categories, on the two rounds of Daytona and Sebring.

To be eligible, the teams must not have competed in these two races in 2016 and 2017. The “rookie” structures will be largely helped by the championship to compete in these events, in particular with freduced registration fees, a cfuel discount of $1 per event, two sets of tires free for Daytona and one for Sebring.
