Jordan Taylor took pole at the Monterey GP in the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi which preceded the two Team Penske Acura DPi.

Wayne Taylor Racing on pole at Monterey

The Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPI was the fastest in qualifying for the Monterey GP (California) held on the Laguna Seca circuit. With a time of 1'16''181, Jordan Taylor was able to beat the two Acura DPi of Team Penske entrusted to Dane Cameron and Helio Castroneves.

Future Action Express Racing driver, Luis Felipe Derani placed the #22 Nissan DPi of the ESM team in 4th position ahead of the Oreca 07 Core Autosport of Colin Braun and the #55 Mazda DPi of Team Joest.

The Action Express Racing Cadillacs are further back. Eric Curran was only able to take 9th place in the #31 while the sister car #5 entrusted to Joao Barbosa will start from 11th position.

It was Oliver Gavin's No. 7 Corvette C4R that won pole in the GTLM category with a time of 1'22''700. Dirk Müller was the closest, placing the #66 Ford GT 8 hundredths behind, slotting himself between the two Chevrolets, the second having been driven by Jan Magnussen who beat the second Ford GT driven by Ryan Briscoe.
