Mazdas remain in control of the Roar Before the 24 at Daytona

The Mazda RT24-Ps remain at the top of the timesheets at the Roar Before the 24 in Daytona (Florida) where three other test sessions took place this Saturday.

Oliver Jarvis improved the benchmark on the No. 77 in the 5th session with a lap completed in 1'34''753 with more than 4 tenths ahead of the sister car entrusted to Ryan Hunter-Reay. Scott Dixon placed the first Cadillac DPi, the No. 10 of Wayne Taylor Racing, in 3rd place almost 9 tenths ahead of the No. 7 Acura of Team Penske driven by Jonathan Bomarito.

Harrison Newey was the fastest in LMP2 with a time of 1'37''372 in the No. 07 Dragonspeed Oreca 81, but it was Ben Keating who set the benchmark for the first qualifying sessions in the category in the No. 52 of PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports which essentially determine the positions in the pits.

Porsche took over in GTLM. Laurens Vanthoor set the best time in 1'43''513 at the wheel of the No. 912, 8 hundredths ahead of Frédéric Makowiecki's sister car. Daniel Serra followed a tenth behind Ferrari 488 of the Risi Competizione.

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3s put themselves forward in this second day of GTD testing. Franck Perera was the fastest with a time of 1'46''713 set in the No. 11 of the Grasser Racing Team, 2 hundredths ahead of the No. 44 of the GRT Magnus entrusted to Andy Lally. It was Frankie Montecalvo who took provisional pole position in GTD in the No. 3 Lexus RC F GT12 of AIM Vasser Sullivan.

Two practice sessions and a qualifying session for the DPi and the GTLM are planned for this Sunday.
