Mazda, back up to jump better?

While theIMSA already having to deal with the withdrawal of Team Penske, the American series will only be able to count on one RT24-P next year. This is in fact what was announced Mazda Motorsports.

A car which will be entrusted to a 100% British pair made up of Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis, supported by the Canadian Jonathan Bomarito on the races of theEndurance Cup: 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of the Glen and Petit Le Mans.

“Covid-19 has opened significant gaps in the world of the automotive industry in all four corners at least and in that of motor racing, said Nelson Cosgrove, director of Mazda Motorsports.

We wanted to continue with two cars, but in terms of resources, we have to be intelligent, especially as we are currently evaluating the opportunity to evolve into LMDh (from 2023. Editor’s note) ».

If no team decides to increase its numbers, the DPi category could only total 5 or 6 units registered for the year in 2021: the Acura ARX-05s of Michael Shank Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing, the Mazda and the Cadillac DPi-V. R of Action Express Racing and JDC-Miller Motorsports, which is fielding two cars this season.
